Ancient Faith. Real Life

St. John the
Merciful Orthodox
Church

St. John the Merciful is an English-speaking Orthodox parish in South Orlando (near Kissimmee and Hunters Creek). We gather each Sunday for the Divine Liturgy standing together in prayer, receiving the Holy Eucharist, and living the historic Christian faith handed down from the Apostles.

Come stand with us for the Divine Liturgy and take your place in the life of the Church.

We are not a trend or a religious brand.

We belong to the Orthodox Church in America — the historic Christian Church received from the Apostles.

Our life together is not formed by programs or personalities, but by worshipping side by side, hearing the Scriptures proclaimed, and receiving the Holy Mysteries.  It is rooted in:

  • The truth of the Orthodox faith, faithfully preserved through the centuries
  • The beauty of the Divine Liturgy, worshipping God with heart, mind, and body
  • The goodness of communion with God and with one another
  • A life of repentance and mercy

The same faith handed down through the centuries is preached and taught here each week.

Why We Exist

St. John the Merciful exists to establish a permanent Orthodox parish in Southern Orlando — rooted in worship, faithful teaching, and works of mercy. We are building not just for this generation, but for the next. Our hope is to see the Gospel embodied here for decades to come.

Recent Sermons

The faith we receive is the faith we proclaim each week in the Divine Liturgy.

Sermons (often called homilies) are preached during the Divine Liturgy and reflect the appointed Scripture readings.

Serving Southern Orlando

Located in Southern Orlando at Plaza Central, near S. Orange Blossom Trail and Lancaster Road, just minutes from SeaWorld.

St. John the Merciful began as a mission in Kissimmee and now serves Southern Orlando and the surrounding communities of Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Clermont, Davenport, and Central Florida. We gather each week for worship at our parish in South Orlando and welcome all who seek the historic Christian faith lived in the Orthodox Church.

We are part of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), Diocese of the South and are currently the only English-speaking Orthodox parish serving Southern Orlando. Orthodox Christians visiting Walt Disney World or Universal Studios often worship with us while they are in town, and we are grateful to offer hospitality to those passing through.
